Welcome to Quantise! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Quantise application, website, services, and related technology (collectively, the "Service"). The Service is a multiplatform trivia and numerical estimation game operated by an independent solo developer ("we", "us", or "our").

By creating an account, accessing, or playing Quantise, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.

1. Eligibility & Age Requirements

Global Age Limit: You must be at least 13 years of age to use Quantise anywhere in the world.
EU / EEA Age Limit: If you reside in the European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA), you must be at least 16 years of age to create an account and use the Service.
Minors (Ages 13–18): If you are between the minimum eligible age and 18 years old (or the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction), you represent and warrant that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and accepted these Terms on your behalf.
Parental Responsibility: Parents or legal guardians are responsible for monitoring their minor child's use of the Service.

2. Accounts & Authentication

To access gameplay, leaderboards, and personalized features, you must register an account. Primary authentication is strictly passwordless:

Google OAuth (sign-in via your Google account)
Passkeys (WebAuthn) (secure passwordless authentication using biometric or hardware keys)

2.2 Secondary Security & Recovery Options

To protect your account or recover access (especially when using Passkeys), you may optionally attach:

Verified Email Address (account recovery via inbox confirmation magic links / one-time codes)
Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP 2FA) (optional two-factor authentication)

Note: Quantise does not request, collect, or store account passwords.

2.3 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your authentication devices, passkeys, and email account.
You are fully responsible for all activities occurring under your account.
You must notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect any unauthorized access or security breach regarding your account.

3. User Conduct & Fair Play Rules

Quantise is built around competitive trivia and numerical estimation. To maintain a fair and enjoyable environment for everyone, you agree not to:

Cheating & Automation: Use bots, scripts, automated software, hacks, memory editors, or third-party tools to cheat, automate gameplay, or manipulate numerical estimation calculations or leaderboards.
Multi-Accounting: Create multiple accounts to manipulate scores, bypass bans, inflate leaderboard rankings, or gain unfair competitive advantages.
System Interference: Circumvent, rate-limit, reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to compromise the integrity of our API endpoints, servers, or network infrastructure.
Harassment & Misconduct: Engage in abusive, harassing, defamatory, hateful, obscene, or threatening behavior toward other players or the developer.

4. Nickname & Profile Policy

Community Standards: Display nicknames must be respectful, non-offensive, and must not contain vulgar, hateful, sexually explicit, or discriminatory language, nor may they impersonate other individuals or mislead the community.
Nickname Lock & Moderation: We reserve the right to lock, reset, change, or remove any nickname that violates community standards or impersonation rules without prior notice.
Account Suspension: Repeated or severe nickname policy violations may result in account suspension or permanent deletion.

5. User-Generated Content & Fact Contributions

5.1 Submitting Facts & Trivia

Quantise allows users to submit fact contributions, trivia questions, and numerical data to enrich the game's trivia database.

5.2 AI Standardization Notice

By submitting any fact, trivia question, or numerical data, you acknowledge and agree that your submissions will be processed, parsed, standardized, and verified using artificial intelligence technologies, specifically Google Gemini AI.

5.3 Grant of License

By submitting user-generated content or fact contributions to Quantise:

You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, transferable, and sublicensable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, display, distribute, and integrate your contribution into the Service and trivia database.
You represent and warrant that you own or have the necessary rights to submit such content and that your contribution does not violate any third-party copyright, trademark, or proprietary rights.

6. Service Availability & Monetization

6.1 Free-to-Play Model

Quantise is currently provided as a free-to-play game without third-party advertisements or mandatory in-app purchases.

6.2 Future Paid Features

We reserve the right to introduce optional paid features, premium passes, subscription plans, or virtual cosmetics in the future. Any future paid features will be governed by updated terms, transparent pricing, and clear disclosures provided prior to purchase.

6.3 Service Modifications & Downtime

We reserve the right to modify, update, suspend, or discontinue any feature, server, or aspect of the Service at any time, with or without prior notice. We are not liable for any downtime, loss of progress, or service interruptions.

7. Intellectual Property Rights

All rights, titles, and interests in and to Quantise—including but not limited to game code, UI design, graphics, branding, logos, sound effects, backend algorithms, and aggregated trivia databases—are owned by or licensed to Quantise and its developer. Nothing in these Terms grants you ownership of any intellectual property in the Service.

8. Account Termination & Deletion

8.1 Termination by Quantise

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, if you breach these Terms, engage in fraudulent or illegal activity, or cheat.

8.2 Account Deletion by User

You may delete your account at any time through the in-app or website account settings, or by emailing a request to [email protected]. Upon account deletion, your personal data will be purged in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL QUANTISE OR ITS INDEPENDENT DEVELOPER BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF THE SERVICE.

11. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising under or in connection with these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved amicably by contacting [email protected].

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or update these Terms at any time. When updates occur, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
